Plants play an important role everywhere in the world . Not only are they food for animals, but also provide useful material or medicine for human, reduce soil erosion, create different habitats, clean the air and produce oxygen. Forests are water catchments. The destruction of forests can already be felt around the globe! There are 6820 plant species recorded in Kenya only. Out of them: 887 are trees, 1228 shrubs, 409 climbers, 3273 herbs, rest is not classified. Now you can imagine in whole East Africa! We just list some of those you might find interesting on your safari. The huge diversity is caused by the favourable climate, the existence of almost all possible biotopes and the fact that some areas where isolated for thousands of years. |
